The inspections are over for another year. The barley crop, both Hordeum Vulgare (modern domestic barley which is manipulated) and Hordeum Spontaneum (self seeding or wild barley) were very young in every region of Israel. Determinations were easy to make this year because of that very fact. Therefore an extra 13th month (Adar 2) will need to be added this year.
The new moon was not sighted on the evening of March 20th because of heavy cloud cover.
If the new moon is seen as expected on Monday April 7th after sunset God’s appointed times for 2008 will be as follows :-
First Day of the year: Tuesday, 8th April
Passover : Monday, 21st April, to be observed on the previous evening from sunset.
1st High Sabbath of the Festival of Unleavened Bread : Tuesday, 22nd April
Wavesheaf day: Sunday, April 27th. This is the start of the count towards Pentecost
2nd High Sabbath of the Festival of Unleavened Bread: Monday, 28th April.
Festival of Firstfruits (Pentecost) : Sunday, June 15th
The 7th month should begin after sunset on Wednesday October 1 for the new moon should be easily visible in Israel if there is no cloud cover. At this point we do not know whether it will be the 29th or 30th day. All days start from the sunset on the previous Gregorian Calendar day.
Day of Trumpets : Thursday, October 2nd
Day of Atonement : Saturday, 11th October
Festival of Tabernacles : Thursday, October 16th through to 22ndOctober.
Last Great Day : Thursday , 23rd October.
