Church Fragments?

Traditionalists in the Church of England are preparing for a possible breakaway over women bishops by taking legal advice on whether they could claim [church] property worth more than £1billion.” Sunday Times July 9th 2006.

The coming split in the Church of England was assured when the General Synod voted in favour of women priests, against the dictates of scripture, years ago. It was inevitable then that the next step would be women bishops, and even archbishops eventually. Of course the traditionalists, most often churches abroad, especially in Africa, have held more closely to the scriptures, and will have none of this, as is shown by their strong stand on homosexuality. They recognize that the Bible, both Old and New testaments, condemns homosexuality as a sin (read Romans chapter one), and neither will they have women in authority in the church. (1 Timothy 2:12 “But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.” And 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 “Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.”)

Meanwhile the General Synod has shown that they are more concerned with the transient mores of a corrupt society and so have lost the respect of many, along with a large part of their flocks. (Malachi 2:7-9 “For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts. But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the LORD of hosts. Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as ye have not kept my ways, but have been partial in the law.”)

Sadly, this apostasy from the source of all truth has been going on for centuries. Not many people know that the true apostolic church was established here in Britain very soon after the death of Christ. Indeed a Bishop of London attended the Council of Arles in 340AD. The first Roman Catholic ‘missionary’ St. Augustine, only arrived in Britain over 250 years later, in 597AD !

Roman Catholic political power soon proved adept in overcoming Biblical practice and truth, and from then on the keeping of the true seventh day Sabbath, which had for hundreds of years been the case here, was stigmatized as Jewish, though it took another 600 years to remove its public observance in the far reaches of these islands.

Nevertheless, those who remained faithful to Christ’s example and instruction – (1 Peter 2:21 “For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps”) continued to keep the fourth commandment even as they do today, though many in the Church of England have been deceived into thinking that they keep God’s Sabbath day. (Revelation 12:9 “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”)

It is our prayer that God will lead many of these ‘traditionalists’ into a full recognition of that deception, and that they will have the courage to stand up for Jesus Christ , and His word !
