Those Offensive Cartoons I came across the following quotations from one Letters page in Britain’s “Sunday Times” – “Our problem is that we do not know what our values are …We have lost the ability to understand anything sacred because we do not hold anything sacred. ……I suspect the two things that tip many Muslims over the edge in their views about us is our rampant sexualism and our lack of respect for families.” “Your correspondent (Mubashar Ahmed) last week wrote that Muslims are offended when any prophet of God is mocked, be it “Muhammed, Jesus …or Buddha”. The Taliban destroyed the giant statues of Buddha in Afghanistan in May 2001. I do not recall any protest marches.” Right: Protestors in Trafalgar Square, London. “I have been offended for years (without demonstrating about it) by the Nazi style cartoons depicting Jews in the Islamic press. When Muslims give to others the consideration that they demand of others, the rest of us may start to take them seriously. Respect must be earned.” “ Christianity represents tolerance, compassion, forgiveness and love. Virtues that appear to be missing among Muslims.” “The non-Muslim and secular societies are reaching the end of their tether being held to ransom by the threats of the Muslim world. Demands for respect while showing contempt for the religions and cultures of others has denied them any empathy.” These letters pretty well sum up the feelings of the British people after the murderous threats to those who offend Islam were displayed in the placards at their London protest. It was plain that these protesters considered themselves at war with their host nation, indeed with Europe as a whole – “Europe you’ll come crawling when the mujadin come calling,” said one placard. “Islamic sharia law should be introduced to Muslim-dominated parts of Britain, according to 40% of respondents in an ICM poll of British Muslims in the same day’s Sunday Telegraph. A fifth said they had some sympathy with the July 7 London bombers.” Since then there have been counter demonstrations by moderate Muslims who claim their religion is a religion of peace, but they might ask themselves why a well known saying around the world is “Not all Muslims are terrorists, but most terrorists are Muslims”. Left: The placards prolaim a hatred of Europe. With no real culture of our own, it’s hardly surprising that Muslims feel superior, but their contempt is turned into hatred by their mullah’s, who often choose to emphasize verses from the Koran that encourage violence against unbelievers. eg:- Koran 8:12 “Remember the Lord inspired the angels (With the message) : “I am with you: give firmness to the believers. I will instil terror into the hearts of unbelievers. Smite ye above their necks and smite all their fingertips of them.” Koran 5: 33-34 “The only reward of those who make war upon Allah and His messenger (cartoons?) and strive after corruption in the land will be that they will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet and alternate sides cut off.” If the Koran was inspired by the God of Abraham and the patriarchs, who says He changes not, and Jesus Christ said “love your enemies’, why do so many of it’s verses inspire such barbaric violence? Could it be that Mohammed, like the Mormon prophet Joseph Smith, who also received a new religious book from an ‘angel’ to add to the Bible, was simply deceived ? After all, most so called Christian clerics have also been deceived into rejecting the plain commandments of God. The bible explains that there is a very subtle and effective deceiver. He is called “the god of this world” (2 Corinthians 4:4) and he appears to men as an angel of light. (2 Corinthians 11:13-14) “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.”
